How I Train To Break 40 Minutes For 10k
Who’s max?
The end was so hard to watch. But she smashed it !💥
I admire how she dug deep deep! I would’ve given up at the part where the breathing becomes too hard.
Great job Jess!❤
This must have been so hard for Jess. Kudos 👍 to her.
Bro didn’t run half marathon
Doing my first half in August. I’ll see how it goes 😟
She has good running mechanics
So sad for this athlete 😢
I’m training for my first Ultra 50. Yes, I use a pack. Can’t be without it for kit and hydration requirements. But, newer versions are sooo expensive!
Just a cool video, I've been in Jess's position so many times, nothing left in the tank, LOVE IT!
Excellent! I'll be following this workout to the letter so I can drop an hour off my 1:28 half marathon time! 😉😅
So pleased there was an update at the end. The whole way through this, I was like did he do it, did he do it?! Brilliant episode!
Which London park is this? Great to see a video with runners similar to my level.
When you say marathon pace or 5k pace what does that mean? Your target? Or 10% faster than where you currently are or something?
I’ve used this work out as part of an 8 week training block - Half Marathon tomorrow and aiming for a PB of sub 1:40. Terrain is a challenge though as course is ‘undulating’. Thanks for the video James!
Anyone know what shoes is Jess wearing?
I do love a good progression run, but a bit confused by the paces as a 1:46 HM pace is 5:01. Great effort cutting that much time off!
Great to see how you put the stories together with the filming, not just one or 2 people on the track.
So much fun watching this AND seeing how the filming is done! I’ve got several trail half marathons over the next few months, and will have to see how I can modify this training plan.
How does one run at a km pace and put "miles in the bank"? Asking for a friend 🇺🇸
BigUp Jess!
Andy makes it so effortless. He looks like he's just on a light jog. 😛 I can't even hear him breathing.
I’m doing my first half marathon in Singapore on 1 December, so this video is super helpful as a beginner runner. A little daunted by the challenge right now, but trying to build it up slowly over the next few months. Thanks for all the great content on this channel!
Watched this video and went straight out and did this run. It was so great! Thanks!
That was AMAZING! Totally shouting at the TV. Really well done. I hope I can summon just a fraction of those guts at my next Parkrun.
i've had a the goal of cracking two hours for the half marathon for a very long time, my pre-COVID PB was 2:03 however my most recent half last year was 2:35 (windy and hilly, to be fair)....my next is in October, it is fast, flat course and one can only but try, I'm squeaking in sub-30 parkruns these days so do I dare to dream???? Will DEFINITELY give this workout a bash, thankyou as ever James for the inspiration...can't wait to also feel like I'm going to regurgitate a lung... 😆😬
That ending/performance/effort was more exciting than the entire England v Denmark game 😂. Brilliant run.
How do you figure out your paces? I haven’t done a marathon (just a half) so how to I figure my marathon pace for the first section?
Thank you, hopefully will give this a go during my training for The Great North Run, my second half marathon. Want to enjoy it but would love to do a PB!
My current PR is 18:45 and I'm trying break 18:30 in a couple weeks. Please send Andy my way! Congrats on the PR!
Callback to Gilmore Girls! 😂 love it!
Pleeeeeeeese put the mile conversions also. Share the love with both sides of the pond lol
I think in this workout it does not really matter, just do miles instead of km. Its more about the build up
do it yourself
Seriously, if you have 2 hours 47 mins for a half marathon you are simply not ready to run this far.
I do love videos with James - just an average looking bloke like me, bit of extra love around the edges but still getting after it. Great workout, loaded onto my Garmin already
U look fat for a runner !❤️
I love this pairing - more of these 2 pls!!
5:52 The hidden response had me laughing out loud. Love you guys 😂
I just want my fitness to improve, my fitness age was older than I am by about 8 years and my vo2max poor, started running 3x pw about 2 month ago and now my fitness age is 10yrs younger and my vo2 max is apparently top 35% in my age, which is a slight drop from peak 2 weeks ago, I'm approaching 50 but I really want to drop my fitness age even more, I still think I'm pretty slow even though my times have improved
"You'd rather be dead", "You're about to regurgitate a lung". You're really selling it to us, James! 😂
5k PB efforts are so daunting. I find it hard at around the halfway mark, because you’re already hurting but you have so long to go. It’s a great test of your mental game. Then the final 500m is something else. You’ve done 90% of the work, HR and breathing are maxed out, legs are burning and you have to try and think about a finishing kick. Speeding up seems impossible, but if you’ve done it right you should have another gear. That final sprint is extreme and you just have to keep doing what you’re doing to get that PB. So tough.
As a kenya this is bullshit. Dude did not make Kenyan runners.
